One Million Cups

ABOUT 1 MILLION CUPS

Based on the notion that entrepreneurs discover solutions and engage with their communities over a million cups of coffee, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation developed 1 Million Cups in 2012—a free program designed to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs around the country. Through the power of volunteers, 1 Million Cups has grown to more than 180 communities.

As a program of the Kauffman Foundation, 1 Million Cups works with entrepreneurs, empowering them with the tools and resources to break down barriers that stand in the way of starting and growing their businesses. Mr. Kauffman believed it was a fundamental right for anyone who had a big idea to be able to bring it to life—and we’re here to fulfill that mission.

OUR CULTURE

Diversity, equity and inclusion are key to the success of our programs. Nationwide, 1 Million Cups communities aim to present an inclusive and supportive front door to their local entrepreneurial ecosystems. These qualities are essential for 1MC to fulfill its mission to educate, engage and connect entrepreneurs with their communities. And they are too essential to leave to chance as the number of 1MC communities continues to grow.

Pitch Breakfast – Monthly Pitch Event

When?

Thursday July 11th

Time?

8am to 9:30am

Address:

222 S. Church St. Charlotte, NC

What we’ll do:

Join us as we feature 4 local startups. Each company will have 5 minutes (with slides) to pitch followed by 10 minutes of Q&A from our expert panel and audience.

Audience members will find value in hearing how other startups pitch, what types of feedback (both positive and negative) they receive, and of course seeing some of Charlotte’s up-and-coming startups while networking with other entrepreneurs and startup community leaders over breakfast. Networking begins at 8am and pitches begin at 8:15. Breakfast and coffee is provided by our sponsors.

PitchBreakfast gives startups an opportunity to practice their investor pitch in a safe and supportive environment. Interested in pitching at PitchBreakfast? Apply on our website here (http://www.pitchbreakfast.com/pitch/).

For startups looking to pitch, this is an amazing opportunity for:

  • Seed-stage and series A level tech startups looking to raise a round of funding
  • Early-stage tech startups looking for some feedback on their business model (must at least have MVP)

This is NOT for:

  • Entrepreneurs with just an idea and no development yet
  • “Lifestyle” companies (ex. bars/restaurants, crafts, hobbyists, MLMs) -“A lifestyle business is a business that is set up and run by its founders primarily with the aim of sustaining a particular level of income and no more; or to provide a foundation from which to enjoy a particular lifestyle.”
